MassBio Pipette Contest

We had a blast on Valentine's Day attending the MassBio Pipette Contest event hosted by TTE Laboratories on Tuesday, 2/14/17.

Vinay, Anny, and our interns, Tom Hehir and Sunita Behera, competed and enjoyed learning to improve their pipette skills.

We ended the exciting event with a great news that one of our interns was the winner, Congratulations to Tom!

In the biotech industry, we all have very different levels and skill sets when it comes to pipetting. It all depends on the variety of pipettes used and how we were trained, but the challenge was a great eye opening for some of us. "So you think you can pipette", think again.

We had to weigh 1000ul (1.000 gram) of water using a 100-1000ul Eppendorf pipette. It was pretty difficult to precisely get 1000ul. Tom placed his winning position by weighed 1001.1ul of water.

The accuracy and precision of instrument, such as pipette, along with trained personnel is crucial for the growth of any breakthrough discoveries.
